Point72 - Cubist Systematic Strategies?
Has anyone here worked at Cubist or Point72? I’m expecting an offer soon and would like to know about what it’s like working there.
Real shady. Their CEO, Steve Cohen, is basically a criminal.
That’s actually not true. He started SAC Capital to trade his own money. He let others come in who turned it into an asset management company. So external investors started putting in money as well, and some of the portfolio managers in the company did shady things while Steve was mostly paying attention to his own money. Steve was a full-time trader and portfolio manager at SAC Capital — he was right there in the trading pit accessible to all. The insider trading scandals required the company to return all external money for 2 years. So Steve was back to trading his own money, which is all he ever wanted anyway. SAC Capital has since been reorganized as Point72, and is now taking investor money. I’m not sure if he’s still on the trading floor. I’d have to ask around to find that out.
SAC was a breeding ground for insider trading and he was the ring leader. Look at the Martoma case. Using expert network firms to access information related to pharma trials. Cohen encouraged and downright ordered the staff to use any means necessary to get insider information. Also see his ugly divorce for more info. White collar criminal.

Worst company to work for, lots of politics and zero career progression
Worst interview experience, pretentious, arrogant, condescending and constantly interrupting. Interviewer was fresh out of school and guess he's having some fun "grilling" someone with 10+ yoe. This tells a lot about their culture. Stay away.
Their interview questions are laughable, WLB non-existent, and team structure is secretive and apalling. Plus, they have a super shady past. Go there only if starved for cash.
I thought they were a little shady, it’s less of a company and more of an umbrella company that is comprised of individual teams
