Why Worshipping Lord Ram Important in Hinduism?
So I recently had a phone interview with Google for their SRE-SWE role. I was told by my recruiter to just focus on DS&A and that I was not allowed to do the interview in Javascript(my daily work language) so I was forced to get as comfortable with Python in a short period of time. No biggie, I already had experience with it but needed time to get comfortable with syntax again. Anyway, I get on the call and I was not asked any DS&A problems at all but instead was asked Linux related questions as well as a scripting exercise in Python. I was shocked and not at all prepared for this. I was honest to the interviewer that I wasn’t expecting this at all. I answered a few of the questions as well as coming to a solution for the coding portion. Interview lasted well over an hour. I had a great time but I’m bummed because i wish I had known this is what I needed to prepare for. Interviewer said I did a good job but was probably just being nice since I had expressed that I had no idea this what the interview was like. Based on this experience is it possible that they accidentally scheduled me for the SRE-SE role instead? Am I fucked or can I possibly get a do over?
Always ask for an itinerary with overviews.
Google doesn't send it.
Happened to me. Recruiter told me over emails multiple times I will not be asked system design. I could not believe it so asked the recruiter over email again and she confirmed I will not be asked. My first round was system design. Lol. I didn't believe my recruiter when she said it and prepared for it anyways. I received strong hire for that round. Lol.
Nice! When I had the initial chat with recruiter they also mentioned no system design so I’ll definitely keep your story in mind if by some miracle I make it past this round.
How do you know you received Strong Hire? The recruiters never mention that
Point on the doll where they touched you op
Yeah sounds like either the recruiter mixed up the advice between you and another candidate or simply didn’t know what they were talking about. It's unfortunate, but that has generally been my experience as well. Recruiters haven't been that great.
Yeah I’m starting to see that. This recruiter reached out to me and then ghosted me for a month so I had no idea if I should even prepare or not then came back to say my interview was scheduled for 2 weeks. Just getting a hold of them hasn’t been the easiest. It’s definitely not as transparent as the experience I’ve had with FB and Amazon.
Same here. Communication has always been slow and erratic for me too. Even for very simple things like, "Is there any update?"
