Had my first interview with Convoy a few weeks ago. They seemed really excited, liked my work. Had a second call with the hiring manager, sounded like everything was going well. Supposedly their senior designers were both out for like a week and I was supposed to get an invite to schedule my next call which was a portfolio review, for which they even asked me to prep a deck and not just go through my projects on my website. Which, for a design interview is not as easy as plopping screenshots into a quick powerpoint. It took me *HOURS* to put the deck together, and now I'm being ghosted? This is so weird and unprofessional. I even recall someone from Convoy mentioning on a post here on Blind not too long ago that their teams desperately needed designers. What is up with some of these companies who think they're too good to email someone back? Weird! #tech #recruiterhorrorstories #recruiting #recruiters #ghosted #seattle #startups #convoy #design #uxdesign #productdesign #hiring #horrorstories
Hey. If you still haven’t heard from us, DM me and I will personally make sure this is prioritized. So sorry for this experience, it’s not what Convoy is about.
I got a response today claiming he had dropped the ball. I don't want to work at a company where this type of stuff happens. It's been two weeks and I'm at the offer stage with others right now, so unfortunately it just isn't something I'd like to pursue. I appreciate you being proactive, but this sort of recruiter is just indicative of another company that doesn't care to hire quality people.
I’m disappointed that this was your experience. I know they recently doubled the recruiting team here so I’ll make sure this is escalated to them. Congrats on your other offers though.

[Serious] New job offer, Indian manager. Should I jump ship?
Sorry to hear that. It could have been a lot of things, including them simply not being as interested in you as you were with them. Treat it as practice and move on. A team that acts this way could be a red flag for a poor working environment.
Exactly what I tried to do. It's unfortunate that I spent all that time on my deck, but I'm going to try and repurpose it for the future. They reached out to me this morning apologizing for forgetting and scheduling another interview, but I politely declined.
