Interested in working at Lockheed Martin as a cyber security engineer. How is the work like? Benefits? Pros/Cons? WLB? #tech #cybersecurity
Why would anyone move from Amazon to Lockheed?
DM for Raytheon, very similar to LM

I worked at L3Harris (another F500 defense contractor) for 2 years and am about to join Lockheed Martin Skunk Works as a cyber security engineer myself. Most large defense companies have similar characteristics, but much of your experience will depend on what team you're on and your manager (like most companies). Whoever said it's more strict has probably never worked in defense before. The only part that's really strict is accounting for your time aka charge numbers. The only other consistent downside is the bureaucracy you can expect when working with the government. FWIW, my overall experience has been way more relaxed compared to working for a tech vendor. Deadlines can make some days hectic, but otherwise you're pretty much expected to show up and do the bare minimum each day and that's it. No need to "quiet quit". This will probably be a culture shock considering where you work currently. While the pay is lower than big tech, I think the benefits at Lockheed Martin are competitive. WLB depends on your project and manager, but I didn't have too much trouble working hybrid when I asked for it. Side note: If you don't have a security clearance and the job requires one, you probably won't get the job since getting a clearance is typically a lengthy process. If they are willing sponsor the security clearance, that's a lot of job security if you can keep it active.
What do you do as cyber security engineer exactly? Is it easy or stressful
It's a broad role. The job description will give you the best idea of what to expect without asking for potentially classified information. I had a well-staffed team most of the time I was there, so it was mostly easygoing.

If the US were to invade India, how quickly would the US win?
Gov contracting is WAY different than private/tech sector. Most people are either Gov employees or previous military (some outliers). So it tends to be way more strict than private/tech sectors. Biggest thing is acrued PTO. You need to work at least a year without taking PTO in order actually have a week or two off. Additionally, if you leave within a certain timeframe and they paid for any certifications- you will be paying the entire course and associated fees back.
At Lockheed?
Everything said in this comment is wrong in regard to Lockheed except for the cert part. Usually have to stay at least a year from payout date.
