Last week my wife and I went out for our Anniversary to a relatively pricey local restaurant. I saw a young couple who both got water (definitely weren’t 21), and were using their calculator to tally up the total cost of their meal to see if they could get dessert. I asked our waitress if we could anonymously pay for their meal, to which they welcomed. It’s the first time I’ve ever done that. We heard the girl say “omg do you think it was your grandma?” Which makes me think, maybe the young man had been raised by his grandparents. Total came to $120 including a 20% tip. It was such a great feeling to do something that nice for someone, especially younger kids who were splurging on a beautiful dinner. Do kind things for others. Be the better person. It’s worth it and I hope it encourages others to do the same. Have you ever experienced this yourself? Feel free to share your stories below. And in response to all of the TTC or gtfo comments: $187K. #Tech #goodkarma #servicenow
Nice 🙂. Things like this make me believe humanity will survive.
Props to you! Anon karma is the best.
🥰 Did you hear/see the couple's reaction when they got to know that someone paid for their meal?
Yes they asked if it were their grandma and then the staff told them they confirmed it was someone in the restaurant. It was such a nice thing to watch (obviously without being too obvious) lol
That's so sweet, yes good karma needs to be spread. We always hear just the bad news l.
It is very nice of you. Few years back, I was in Starbucks and two kids were in front me ordered some and they were in short of few dollars and her parents weren’t not near. I told the cashier, you can charge it on my card. When I ordered my latte, the cashier said you don’t need to pay for anything and he said …it is on the house
Love to see it!!!!
Very kind of you 🙏🏻. Please ignore the ppl trying to shame you for “bragging” or whatnot. You can’t please everyone. 🙄
That's so sweet. Had a similar experience in Starbucks. Someone paid for my coffee because the before person paid for them. I was very surprised, it was so cool. Then I paid for the next person in the line. $120+20%tax is expensive for a dinner though. If we were in your place my wife wouldn't have allowed me to do that.
Hahah yes, I was expecting maybe $65 plus a nice tip and when it was $96 I was like oh shit, he ordered the $41 steak!!! For some background, I just started at ServiceNow somewhat recently and doubled my salary for the same title. I figured, why not just go for it. Would rather make someone’s night than donate to a charity.
I was admiring you for your deeds until the last sentence in your comment above. Charity >> making someone’s night paying for their steak and desserts. Good job on the deed though. But please donate whenever you can. Even if you can’t see the happiness on the faces of the people indirectly benefitting from it. Thanks!
Now, please dont post on linkedin, facebook, tiktok etc.:) Helping others is great. As human beings, we have great power and capability to make the world a better place. But if you help expecting something in return, brag to yourself or others how great you are, altruism loses it’s power. Most people in this world help others to get something in return. But if you can truly help out others without care or concern for yourself, can help anyone without a lot of calculations - it’ll bring such joy to you that nothing else in the world can give. Joy of service to others just because you love them. I am so glad you are discovering this joy. Keep giving to others!! And, I dont mean just your money:)
Great advice!!
Stop preaching Microsoft
Great story to read in the morning, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for reading. I hope you have a great rest of your weekend!
That was really cool of you, OP. Right up until you posted on Blind about it 🤦♂️
It’s an anon app…
Yes, not a bad thing. I guess op can mask or hide the amount so that receiver would not know. Posts like this motivate other people as well IMO.
