Genius is defined as an IQ of 140. I would think 20-30% of ppl in high paying tech qualify as genius level. Nothing remarkable. Learn things faster. Maybe identify things before others can.

I met with alpha_mail. The way (s)he crafted the question is the hallmark of a genius.

I have met so many who call me a genius. I am yet to meet someone who I can call genius. The burden of being smarter than everyone is heavy 😔

A person so dumb that they don’t realize they are the dumbest in the room. Genius!

My husband is a genius, his personality is very much akin to Warren Buffet. To top it off if he wasn’t in tech he could easily make a career in finance. Finance is a “hobby” for him. Some things to note about him: 1. His mom is actually the one who told me. I didn’t know. He was writing computer programs when he was 3 years old so his parents got him tested. Tl;Dr He’s really modest and understated about it. He works hard at his job to earn every promo, opportunity that he gets and he doesn’t take it for granted. 2. He never sees himself as “smarter” than everyone but rather someone who can teach others what he knows. He doesn’t look down on people. 3. He is classically good with math, he’s basically like a human calculator. 4. He knows a bit about a wide variety of topics and he’s keenly aware of what he doesn’t know. 5. He’s a night owl, and incredibly creative. 6. He doesn’t do some “normal” things very well. 7. Boredom is definitely something he fights when he has to work on something that isn’t challenging. 8. He can seem very “in his head” sometimes, he spends a great deal of time thinking or doing. He can’t not be productive. He’s always occupying himself with something. 9. He basically becomes excellent quickly at anything he puts his mind to. 10. He’s definitely “eccentric”. True geniuses I feel are often more understated. I had another kid I taught who was one, and tbh they aren’t the people telling everyone how brilliant they are. They just are. Obviously there are some who are more arrogant but I’ve found by the two I know they are a lot more modest and understated in how they present.

Geniuses are usually identified as children. They don’t need a tech company (or any company) to define them.

Ive worked with people like that. They have relentless drive to get what they want and can “root cause” problems in a much shorter time than I could because of their knowledge and structured way of thinking. I believe there’s 2 signs of genius: 1) Ability to quickly grasp and recall new ideas/concepts 2) Ability to apply existing understanding to figure out problems in creative ways

Define genius? Smartest guy I know was the one who figured out how to be happy with what he had and not let someone else define his value.
