Austin house prices are at an all time high!! Its no longer an LCOL. Will it go down or keep increasing exponentially? Tc: 280k #austin
U know right tech jobs are flowing in like crazy; follow what happened to Seattle, you will find your answer
Lol Austin hasn’t been LCOL in a decade what rock have you been under
Bruh😂😂😂😂
Round Rock 😬
Recently moved to Austin with the plan to buy a house. Have been following prices on Zillow from past 6 months and have never seen such a drastic increase in the prices of the house in such a short period of time. I used to see the good houses in the range between 500k-800k and now it has raised to over a million in a span of 6 months. It’s crazy.
It increased crazily till May be q3 of 2021. Prices have actually started to stabilize a bit after that. There is increase but very nominal.
That’s true. Also bloodbath in stocks. 😠bloodbath1
I'd say with TC 280, you shouldn't have a problem finding decent living in Austin ...like, at all
Move to Dallas, TX
Please do consider 2.5-3% property tax and high sales tax etc.. I should have done my analysis before moving here. Austin 650 k ~ 1 M house everywhere else because of Tax. I need to wait at least a year before moving, so, renting for now.
How high is the sales tax?
2.5 - 3 as i mentioned
That’s only true for new communities. If you are buying a old house, the taxes are from 2 to 2.3 Also Sales tax is less than Seattle or Cali. Plus no state tax here. Overall it’s still decent city to start a family. Don’t recommend if you are single though.
Well, you weren’t complaining when $GOOGL was 50% up YOY at one point 😉
Gotta move to the burbs
Doesn’t seem that bad judging by Zillow
Keep in mind property tax is 3% there vs 1.2% avg most are used too.
That’s good context, definitely makes things more expensive
