How do you think gaming companies in general will fare in these times? People will most likely not have money to spend on playing games? Any of you worried about layoffs ?
Our numbers are going through the roof. I mean, they were before, but now even more so
Would imagine people would spend more money on games with the money that they would have spent going out to bars/restaurants/sporting events/clubs/movies/travel/vacations/etc Some friends who weren't gamers before are becoming one now. There's not much else to do for entertainment when locked down.
Gaming is seeing big boosts right now. I’d bet engagement is up 20 percent with all companies.
Volumes are up 6x on CDN for video game companies.
Gaming does well during economic downturns. It's much cheaper to invest in a game and stay home than it is to participate in other forms of entertainment.
This. Gaming has always done well when the economy is hurting.
That’s one of the many reasons I love games. ROE is huge compared to other forms of entertainment. $60 can get you over 100 hours. Compare that to a movie, and don’t get me started on the concessions!
Does anyone know how online casino gaming does during these times?
Not much to bet on. Esports is seeing a rise in betting, as well as props like weather. In general it's a rough time for the betting arenas.
People bet on the weather? You learn something new err day
Our mobile ad revenue is about to hit our 2020 goal by h1 basically
Now a good time to join?
Yep
What Roblox said above. When people are locked down, they end up gaming or streaming.
Don't know how revenue numbers look, but engagement is strong. If layoffs are a possibility, leadership definitely isn't showing it. They've gone full support mode, and if they can afford to help support local charities I don't think they're in a rush to layoff. Ask again in a few months and I may have a very different answer.

The end of Backdoor Roth?!
well the money they do have would be well spent on games if the lockdown continues since this is one of the activities people can still do
Hmm -was there any proof of this in previous recessions?
I mean this is special in terms of a recession where you are forced to stay inside.
