Closing the gap on the Bay Area with still lower cost of living. Plus $279k as an average is incredible. Also, this has to be TC helped by rise of Amazon, Microsoft stock recently. https://www.geekwire.com/2020/seattle-tech-workers-earn-279k-year-average-double-wages-every-sector/
There is something wrong with the article, in the same link there is s related new that says $135k/yr in June 2019... I don’t believe all the people double the salary in less than a year.
Bezos and Bill single handedly doubling the average lmao.
Good example of why median is better than mean in some examples.
I read the median household income for Seattle is just under 100k. It would be interesting to isolate income info for households with 1+ tech worker. Not sure what % of Seattle households have tech workers, but I could see it being close to 50%
This is king county not just Seattle. It is probably because Microsoft pays bonus on third quarter?
Seems high
Someone at geekwire fucked up
This was honestly super surprising. They must have definitely added a lot of management to this because I’d wager about 15% of SDEs at amazon make 280K
