Msft overspent on open ai and realized it didn't give them any search market share. So needs to cut. The AI bubble will collapse after the hype. Gave us a nice bear market rally to get out of our stocks. AI is definitely cool to impress for few minutes but not always useful in practice when you try to use it to solve some real hard thinking work. Yes we have heard many examples of people using Gen AI for automation of some of the grunt work but the hype of Gen AI is much larger than the low hanging fruit it has solved thus far
I doubt it, there are a lot of people with gpt subscriptions already
Leave it to Google to think that search is the only way to drive revenue. Cope harder
These cuts were planned two months back atleast imo N openai has nothing to do with it. In the first wave it hit Devs n tech folks. The second wave this week has mhot majorly the mcaps/cloud soln architects/sales.
Funny how OP thinks that most of their Google search volume comes from users wanting to “solve some real hard thinking work”.
I believe that Microsoft's investment in OpenAI was not an overspend; in fact, I think they should allocate even more resources towards it. Although I understand that GPT is not flawless at the moment, I personally subscribe to and use it on a daily basis, along with the new Bing features. With the recent introduction of the "App Store" and its expanding capabilities, I find myself relying on GPT as my primary interface when navigating the internet. While it may not be suitable for solving complex problems requiring deep analytical thinking, I believe it serves a valuable purpose for regular users. GPT can assist with simpler tasks like coding or completing school assignments, providing initial ideas and guidance for tackling more challenging problems. Let's be fair, even the Google search engine is not designed to solve profound thinking puzzles. I've noticed that some individuals from both Google and Meta tend to belittle other companies' products and achievements, dismissing them as mere bubbles waiting to burst. Instead, I invite them to reflect on how they can improve their own offerings rather than relying solely on advertising-based business models. There is always room for growth and innovation.

Why is our country owned by Israel? I don't want my tax dollars fund genocide. How can we stop this nonsense?
How are you allowed to use it? Don’t companies restrict it?
It’s new tech so it’ll take time to adopt. Even consider cloud computing and how long it took to adopt.
