So, we know that quality and durabality wise Japanese brands kick ass. No German car can ever come close to that. Yet in America German cars are associated with class and high regard... Can someone help explain this... Edit : yes I know they have a joy to ride and are designed for luxury and performance, if I drive one out of the showroom brand new with bumper to bumper warranty I am fine, but after a few years they break down and then maintenance is a biatch. So I still don't get it...also what to do with performance the traffic is insane in most places, 0-60m in 4 secs don't get you there any faster
Drive a BMW once.. you’ll answer your question yourself
Drive a german car and a japanese car and it will explain itself. They make tradeoffs and design for different things.
They’re more luxurious, cutting edge, higher performance and a joy to drive. You make a clear statement when you roll around in one.. Oh and usually expensive to get and own.. So they’re considered a premium toy for the well off.
Drive a bunch and get to know the difference. It's quite easily distinguishable.
Generally speaking German cars are built for performance and luxury while Japanese cars are for quality and durability... not everyone has the same priority so people chose there cars based on what they prefer... Your question about class and high end can also be answered with the pricing... a typical German entry level sedan is around 45k against a typical Japanese one around 30K
Go drive an M4 and then come ask the same question
Thats the one I want to own someday :-)
Just go to a dealership and test drive a BMW, a Mercedes and an Audi. Then test drive a Lexus, an Infiniti and an Acura. You’ll see the difference yourself:)
Yes I know about the performance angle, just edited the post...but the maintenance cost is insane.
the people who like to be seen in and drive new German performance/luxury vehicles don't typically keep them long enough to be problems before getting a new one. the people who buy them used after warranty save a huge discount (like only 30% of the new price at 4 years old), and so they have money for maintenance.
Also some people do their own maintainance and then it's affordable. Iv owned a few 10+ year old Mercedes and I'm cheap as fuck. They still run great
German cars age like fruit and expensive as hell to fix.
