I have applied for internship roles at Google before but never heard back from them. I got connected with a college alumnus who works at Google and is willing to refer me. Right now I'm still in college but will be graduating soon. I've read a random post from 2018 on Blind saying that going through the referral path would not be as helpful as the recruiter path, because I won't have recruiter access if I'm referred. Is that true at Google? I got a referral for Amazon, a recruiter reached out and was very helpful in the process. Is the process very different at Google? If I don't get a referral from the alumnus, is there any better way to gain a recruiter's attention than simply applying online? #google #referral
Too late for internships this year unfortunately :-(
This might be true, OP ask your friend about internship application timelines. I remember just before end of year 2019, Google recruiters were finishing up offers for 2020 summertime.

Referral is essentially connecting you to recruiter.
I see, thanks! That post I saw was some misinformation then :D
That post was written by another grad trying to dissuade others from applying and reduce competition for himself. 😉👌👍
