Companies are no longer on a hiring freeze, yet not that many people are applying for these positions because I guess they think companies are still on a hiring freeze or are too busy enjoying vacations or trying to stay at their current jobs and not interviewing and exploring what’s out there. I've personally interviewed a bunch of people and know quite a few folks who got laid off, only to land much better-paying gigs in big tech or rapidly growing smaller companies. People are missing out on promising opportunities while others, pushed by unfortunate circumstances, are snagging those opportunities.
Got laid off a few months ago and had the most stressful few months applying for and interviewing at various companies but yes I did get a few amazing offers that I'm considering right now.
What company / offers are these?
Hey man, could you please help me with a resume review ? I would be grateful for your help if possible… I was laid off last week and if you could help me with that it would really be great 🙏
@op I just dm'ed you with a couple of questions about Google! thanks :)
Getting a good PM job is easier ?? now?! my ass
Op is a dumb fuck
For those who resort to ad hominem attacks instead of responding on topic, getting a PM job will always be difficult.
Can you share some company names here?
Google, open to chatting? I really need a mentor and next steps to get into a higher paying faang job
Should change the title to: “Getting a good job (for those who punch above their weights) is a lot easier now.”
That’s selection bias buddy, it’s pretty awful out there still. 1.Less good roles and the really good one aren’t advocated outside companies (only mouth to ear, internal hiring and referrals) 2. A lot more great talent in the market for new roles 3. A lot more noise in hiring bc people are just sending CV to every mildly relevant role 4. Companies lowered the base salary bc of the above (I see 15-20% drop compared to 8months back) 5. Hiring paralysis- so much talent leads to not being able to choose
Fill us in on some of these amazing roles out there! Are there some in google? Have applied a bunch, maybe I need a referral to get that process started better
Lol, every job on LinkedIn shows like 500 applicants. Even if you assume only 20% actually submit an application vs clicking the apply button, there’s still an ungodly amount of people applying for a lot of roles causing a huge supply/demand imbalance. This is a moronic post @OP
It’s very tone deaf. As if all the people that have gone 3+ months unemployed and on the verge of losing their homes are… not trying hard enough? 🥴

Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
wow only someone who didn't get laid off would say this
Nah. Just one data point, but I was laid off from Meta but recently my previous manager said they're starting to open up external hiring again. I won't go back though since I almost tripled my TC (if you take the equity at face value) at another place as a Sr. SWE and I've lost faith in Meta leadership and vision
Same situation for me at Meta except I quit, wasn't laid off.
