It says: >>>> Salary negotiations are notoriously difficult for job seekers. Compensation consultant Victoria Pynchon offered some advice on how to discuss salary with a potential employer in the latest edition of #GetHired. Some suggestions: - Know your market value (me: Better to come to blind app) - Be the first to put a number on the table (me: Worst tip ever! It's a trap.) - Keep the door to negotiation open (me: the door is closed by the time you put a number on the table!) >>>> Articles on LinkedIn are no different from the answers on Quora.
I hereby coin the phrase: Social Media Singularity (SMS) It is defined as the phenomenon where given enough time, every social media platform devolves into garbage like the content seen on Facebook.
I don't like starting with the number but if it goes back and forth once, your chances are better if you say something instead of being evasive. Research salaries on Glassdoor or reddit or wherever and pick a good number that you would accept, and that is realistic. There are all kinds of companies out there but mostly, they don't ask this to low ball you, they already have a budget in place and they just want to see if you're within that range. If you're lower, they'll bring you to the lower end of that range, which is more than what you wanted so not bad.
Quora used to be really really good.
