How can my idiot brother who does real estate afford this
Does anyone here who live in an apartment complex, struggle with getting food delivered to your doorstep from services like doordash, caviar, ubereats or grubhub? I struggle with it a lot. Drivers can’t find my apt and as a result I have almost stopped ordering. Edit- thanks everyone for responses. This use case is only for people who live in apartment complexes. Other’s might not find this useful. All the inputs from apartment dwellers are welcome.
Can you not just meet them at the main entrance?
Then what is the point of ordering in. I might just go and pick up the food as there are restaurants around. I would like food at my door step when I am sick or feeling just too tired to do anything. I do go and meet them at the entry several times, but one has to admit, that getting it delivered to one’s door would be life saver sometimes.
Because it literally costs you 1 or 2 minutes of your time and you're saving transportation costs + waiting time while they make your food. My biggest pet peeve is when people in a high rise expect food couriers to somehow get in their building and deliver it straight to their door. Costs the courier an extra 4 or 5 minutes (on top of illegal parking) which affects the amount of money they make. Not to mention the backup this causes in downtown areas because someone is a princess and can't be bothered to meet their courier right outside their building like a normal person. If you guys are too fucking lazy to spend a minute to go out and meet the courier then you don't deserve to order delivery. If you're too sick to do so then you should go to a hospital. Or not be ordering out and getting unhealthy food.
The courier gets a “my kid is sick and I can’t deal with shit right now” tip for a reason. Thanks for calling and getting into my apartment, delivery dudes.
I'm totally with you on this. Huge pain in the ass. I've lived in much more complicated apt complexes outside of the bay area and never ever had a problem. Here, it's one pain in the ass after another. I can't find your place.. I can't find the door.. I can't open the door.. Oh am I at the wrong door? To me context switching and stepping downstairs is like 90% of the work. If I do that, I might as well walk/bike/drive to pick up the food myself. Gradually I just stopped ordering.
I use Postmates when I want door delivery—UberEats, for example, is curbside pickup. I also reiterate to the Postmates driver directions on how to get to my door so it’s super clear that I am not coming down to grab it.
Good idea!
live in a house, problem solved
these companies need to solve this delivery problem
What problem exactly? That people are lazy?
People are paying to be lazy, that is how the companies survive. People here are saying they would make more money from them if they fixed their service. Think about what people are saying.... they are saying these companies are losing potential money because they use them less or do not use them anymore because they are not meeting the lazy needs right.
Postmates couriers are actually tasked and trained to bring your order to your unit door. If you ever have an issue with that contact support and they will reprimand the courier.
Could you tell me a bit more about this training? How do they find apartments in huge complexes? Does postmates have maps for complexes?
No they won’t. If support reprimands a courier, that’s a lawsuit as it becomes an argument towards them being employees. The company can’t demand that they do anything but go to the address. But customers can give them shit ratings if they refuse to enter the building and they’ll get kicked off the platform eventually.
Here's a free service that makes it super easy for delivery people to find apartments: https://www.deliverypath.co
Has anyone used it? I can just record a video on my own, why would I need this app?
Lol, I'm not that lazy, and I enjoy both cooking and driving too much to care.
Why not wait outside when they're near like a normal person?
Exactly. They even have gps to say where the driver is. It’s lazy enough to order in... not walking outside is just inexcusable laziness
