I wonder how to get hired in US office if you live in Europe? I mean I know about h1b lottery. If I got it right, you get an offer from a company and then apply for h1b. But I thought recruiters even don’t respond to the candidates if they don’t have h1b/green card etc. Is it right or it’s worth to try to apply to us office via referral?
It is worth applying at large tech companies. The alternative is to work in the EU office for a year then do an internal transfer with L1.
Yes, it’s a way, thank you!
Friend of mine applied for Netflix while living in Germany, they made him an offer and took care of the visa stuff for him ... YMMV
Interesting, thanks!
Friend of mine got hired by FB. But worked in the UK office till us visa came through. Why do you want to move from Europe to the US? I moved from silicon valley to Europe. After living there for 10 years. Make sure you know what you are wishing for.
I thought there are much more opportunities
Thats such a superficial and unresearched response i was not going to respond. So you want to invest 2 years of yours life for grad school (not to mention thousands of dollars), to get an OPT so you can maybe find a job with fang and you can maybe win the H1B lottery so you can maybe work 3-6 years. I would recommend researching the new visa laws Trump is proposing, the lifestyle of san Francisco, NYC ( or wherever you are dreaming to go) complete with housing prices, homeless problems, gun violence, lack of any retirement that you would build by working, and the fact that the moment you get fired from your job without any notice and, unless you have green card or citizen ship you become illegal and have to leave the US or you are an illegal immigrant.... Maybe do some research that involves more than just a "more opportunities" and compare them to whats available in places like Germany, UK, Estonia, etc.
Why do u think int’l students come to US for grad school? Its less for knowledge, more for getting 2+ chances in h1b lottery while you work on OPT Getting hired directly is very hard, and will get harder as scrutiny incrases. Other than school your best shot is working for a subsidiary of US parent company/contract with them, build credibility, and ask for a transfer. We’ve hired good devs from Ukraine, Italy etc
