This is my first time getting a zero bonus cash this year and it’s frustrating. Am I getting fired? What could cause someone to get a zero bonus cash in their yearly review? Manager mentioned he wants to see some velocity from my work, but overall performance is good. Is that a good enough reason to not reward any bonus cash though? Trying to learn something that I might not know about myself, perhaps I think too highly of myself...
They spent it all on Richard. That dick
That's a sign you should look for a new job
I think that managers often do not feel comfortable to provide negative feedback directly. Ask him/her for honest feedback in 1:1 and take the feedback as an opportunity to learn.
Microsoft had a good year, so it was not a budget saving. Clearly you manager is trying to tell you something. It’s a well known manipulation to give people soft feedback and no bonus when you want those people to take an offense and find another job
Change team ASAP
Yep strong way of sending a message
Your manager is screwing you. Saying your overall performance is good and then giving you zero bonus is a clear sign.
Performance could be related in some cases, but did anybody notice this started on larger scale only this year? I don’t remember last year having so many posts like this on blind. There is definitely change in pattern, and I suspect the budget was tilted toward D&I comp.
It could also be related to changing performance ranking philosophy in MS. I’m not sure what new system they adopted, but it could be a system when bonuses are paid to EE and SEE categories only.
Is that Microsoft? GG I say
