Gmail/photos screwed me over a couple months ago by locking me out due to full storage and i missed important emails while moving. Just got rid of my last google product. No more chrome, gmail, g maps, g photos, g drive, YouTube app. Curious if I’m the only one with a negative view of google products Tc 300k
You expect Sundar to step down after seeing this post?
Yes. Sundar is quivering in his boots specifically from this post.
But are you using Bing search and Mozilla Firefox/Safari?
Yeah it’s a crappy combo. I’ll use edge for web dev, because i need a chrome based browser
✌️
Good
Created a poll, curious how common this view is
do you have an Android phone?🫣
What did you replace Drive with?
Honestly never really used it. Might create my own app and host it on free tier azure/aws
So you were cheap and didn’t buy extra storage over what Google provides for free and neither did you keep your inbox clean to make storage and somehow this is Google’s fault?
Goog advertised a free version of photos that didn’t count as part of your storage. My inbox is filled with ads, why would i pay google to serve my ads? I subscribe to plenty of stuff, but it’ll be a cold day in hell before i pay for false advertising
Lol Google photos definitely count towards your total storage. Lack of product understanding on your part doesn’t make Google a false advertiser and all those spam mail you are talking about are from all the random places where you entered your email address. No service is truly free, there are free tiers. It’s surprising you don’t understand this basic concept. Apple iCloud and mail have the same exact constraints. So does Outlook and OneDrive. So does Dropbox, Box or any other storage service
Curious to know how would any other mail provider solve this issue?
Storing text is cheap. Photos and videos are what fill up your storage
