Top technology Consulting company thoughtworks being sold. What do you guys think of joining it now ?
They are getting sold to venture firm. Apparently they are promising to keep culture intact. Traveling is must if you want to work for end customer. They don't do product development unfortunately. What position was offered to you ?
They always make that promise.
I applied for Junior Dev then. Although the scope of their Analyst position was pretty close to PM, have you looked at that?
No, I'll check it out. I am concerned about this sale, would like to wait for bit and see.
@maverickG How is Guidewire? Are the Glassdoor reviews legit?
There’s a lot of people leaving the dev organization right now and the company has lost the ability to ship new products.
I also joined them less than a year ago though I found that they have focus on employee satisfaction. Work wise, insurance can be boring some and interesting to others. I love working on technology projects which helps business directly, so I am okay with that. I guess it all depends on individual and what he wants from employer
Last time I checked their salaries were pretty low
Thoughtworks or guidewire ?
ThoughtWorks salaries are low. But your housing/food is almost fully paid since you travel 100%. Not sure if they still have that perk but in 2011, they gave you 1 free air ticket to anywhere in the continental US every week. You could either use or yourself, or have any of your friends/family fly to you.
Guidewire pays very well
Post acquisition internal discussion aren't freaking me out, seems fine so far. Apax has given promises of culture continuity that are being fulfilled so far
I would agree
Wow. I interviewed and had an offer from them back in 2011 -- every position was 100% travel so didn't take it but I thought they were a cool company. Who are they being sold to?
