Hello! Anyone can comment on the tech interview? From what I've seen the process takes longer than usual and they put a lot of emphasis on cultural and behavioral but I haven't found much info on the technical aspect. Is it just typical Leetcode questions?
Those are different positions. I have passed through systems engineer position. For me case it was a problem from a real life. I don't think they do leetcoding at all.
cool thank you for the replies! How do you like working there by the way?
I won’t give you any other details, but don’t waste your time with leetcode to prepare for a github interview.
Thank you! Any feedback on the company work/culture/processes/satisfaction ?
No one hires using leet code type questions as far as I know. From what I’ve seen the “homework” problems are mostly practical problems. Many groups are largely remote and the ones I work with have no on-site. Most of us would have no one in HQ to even meet with you. Focus in the hiring process is heavy on cultural fit and not hiring assholes. It’s generally not hard to tell in the hiring process of someone has the experience to do the job based on the roles I’ve interviewed people for.
Thanks, sounds like a similar process my team has here at EA (I am a hiring manager and don't think leetcode is a good assessment of someone's ability to perform the work. I use a take home test focused on API design and implementation of real world scenarios)
How do you like working at GitHub btw? I heard that engineering had se issues but also that the company is trying to fix them
Is it senior systems engineer position? Usually it's a homework with emphasis on troubleshooting. Then cultural fit interview with engineers online. If you clear that, you come on-site.
In their positions website it lists them as Senior Software Engineer. How are the on-sites? I'm prepping for some interviews at other companies with a lot of Leetcode but couldn't find out if GitHub interview is the same so not sure what to expect. Also are the interviews language neutral too or do I have to brush up my Ruby? Thank you for the info!
