I’m currently interviewing with GitHub for SWE and I have a 90min technical interview coming up. Anyone take one recently and have an idea what it’s like? Is it review of the take home assessment? If I pass the 90min technical, then I have a 45min behavioral and if all goes well, should have an offer. #engineering #software #swe
I thought they paused hiring. Where are you located?
Silicon Valley, I thought they paused hiring too (applied to a bunch of positions there and got a generic “Hiring freeze” email, but recruiter still reached out and said we need to move fast)
Damn I just checked and there is only 1 SWE position and its for Staff.
Hiring is paused for Engineering function. But... hiring is still taking place in the Revenue function for customer focused roles like solutions engineering, solutions architecture, support, and software engineers for a variety of sales and partnership oriented roles. Seeing as how the role is likely in Revenue, the interview may focus quite a bit on communication and collaboration in addition to technical stuff. I echo the no-leet code comment here. Interviews are more practical, pragmatic, and the ability to write concise, clean, and collaborative code.
Did some teams in the revenue function go on hiring freeze today? The role just got closed according to my recruiter due to “prioritizing and strategizing hiring” :(
There were loads of people starting sales / customer solutions/support positions in recent onboarding cohorts. Not sure about any word on pausing revenue-related hiring though.
What kinda questions for technical interview
No idea, just know it’s not leetcode
