Curious if anyone can shed some light on a timeline for when I should expect to get the next steps from Github. I completed their on-site on June 21st and was told the following day that I moved on to the next step (team matching). Since then it's been radio silence from Github, despite reaching out via email to the recruiter. I'm asking because I received two additional offers this week, from other less notable companies for similar TC and I don't want to make a decision before I have all the info. I'm concerned the other companies would resend their offers if Github's process takes too long. YOE: 5 TC: 110k #swe #jobhunt #software
Did you tell them you have two pending offers?
Yes, when I reached out to my recruiter earlier this week I let her know that I have two other pending offers, and inquired about Github's timeline so I could set expectations with the other companies.
Weird.
I am going through the exact same, and I too have offers, but all the recruiter has to say is that it will take time and I will have to wait. No clue how long!
It is frustrating that I will probably have to turn down other offers due to the lack of information coming from Github's side, but they're my #1 choice now. So I think it's worth the wait.
I made it to team matching as of Wednesday and am not having this same experience. I would be frustrated if I were in your shoes for sure.
Well, I'm glad to hear that this isn't the norm, if you don't mind could you share what your timeline looked like?
Sure, I don’t see the harm in that. Applied cold to job posting on 3/12. Heard back on 6/22 from a recruiter. Interviews on 6/28. Passed and went into team matching 6/29. Talked to one HM 6/29, and a second on 7/01. Have since set up interviews with members of both teams for 07/11.
You may be waiting many weeks. As a HM I’ve turned down people who they tried to give me since our pool of candidates has gotten saturated and hiring is slowing.
If the team matching takes that much time (multiple weeks), how are the odds of receiving an offer?
We are slowing hiring like every company due to economy. So idk honestly. Like I said we have a saturated pool especially for more Jr lvl for the open positions.
Hey did you hear back?
Also completed on-site on Jun 21 and in team-matching round now. I am going to ask my recruiter for update next week. Hope it won't take long :|
Hiring freeze announced today. If you aren’t in the offer phase, you are going to be paused.
July 1st is the start of our new year, and everyone is off for a week. Scheduling right now is hectic, reach out to your recruiter and if they don’t respond reach back out the week of July 11th.
Sounds good, didn't realize Github was off the week of the 4th. Appreciate the info.
This is a good strategy with GH recruiters. May be bad timing with the new year hitting and a week break since most teams have no availability.
