I feel , as i believe most others feel or believe or atleast have thought about it before , that most of the layoffs are less about the economy crashing and more about pleasing investors. We see most companies acting sort of in sync or following suit in laying off a tonne of people throughout , and to be honest at this point one might question , who does have the best interest of us at heart ? Surely it's no more the companies. Isn't it a good time we think about unioninsing ? At the very end we are people too , and i feel when corporate greed comes in and does stuff like this someone needs to be there to speak up. They lay off so many people with hardly any good excuses , and honestly they do it through email , as if they don't care . We all of us stop working for even one day , you know how big it'll be . I know it may not be the best thing to do but given the situation I don't know if that's a bad idea anymore. #layoffs #microsoft #apple #google

I don't know.. unions are worse than profit seeking corporates IMO. people at power call the shots and politics will be at play anyway. End of day, we need to choose lesser evil (or lesser -ve consequences).. See... when companies paid good salary, we had our own benefit while factoring in mind and switched companies.. nothing wrong and nobody forced us.. That's what the companies doing as well.. Besides, union will end up bringing down comp and helping slackers to warm the bench and not the ambitious.. Bottom line : while not perfect, I will prefer tech companies with current set up instead of union.
What are you on. How will a company that sees you as an expense, benefit you more than a union that collectively bargains on your behalf? You as an individual is worthless. You are literally a number. You as a group of 10k engineers that will walk out? That has power that companies fear. It would act the same as working at FAANG. You’d be vetted and part of a union of strong engineers. It’s not like you’re gonna be sitting next to Joe Schmoe at the local HR firm, or even a F500 company. So saying pay will go down is silly.
