Best computer monitor that beats Retina display

Any external monitor that beats the 5k Retina display? I have a 3 year old 4K LG monitor but somehow still looks dull or low contrast compared to my MacBook. Is it just the glossy finish? If so then are there other glossy monitors that compare?
