There is no comparison between the numbers I see on glassdoor and on Blind. E.g i see average glassdoor L5 SDE salary at Amazon is ~ 170K in Seattle. There are people claiming 300K here. Are the numbers in Blind outliers? It will be unwise to use this for negotiation? Blind should create its own survey.
I think that the way Glassdoor figures TC is usually without equity, since Glassdoor covers a lot more than non tech and most non tech don’t have that kind of comp package.
They have average equity numbers there. Even if you add them, it doesn’t match.
They don't force people to give equity numbers, and count unspecified equity as $0
Glassdoor is generally lower than reality. Not sure why that is, just that it is so.
I think they include old salary data that's often out-of-date. Especially in tech with the last decade of rising pay.
People on blind seem to include stock growth in their TC. So they may be making 50k or even 100k more than the company intended to pay purely due to crazy stock growth.
Don't trust Glassdoor for salary
They usually indicate only the base.
Glassdoor gives you averages over the entire time Glassdoor has been gathering data for that company. Obviously salaries are way higher now than they were 5-8 years ago so Glassdoor numbers should always be considered way low unless it's a brand new company.
