Going back to IT Project/Program Management

Hi there, French based in the UK, I'm currently working for several small hedge funds as a business consultant and working from home since 2019 (just before the lockdown started). As those are small and startup funds, pay is not big and with the cost of living rising, I'm looking to go back to my previous job as IT project/program manager (I was doing it back in France for GE in ERP/Finance Applications) that is more related to my background studies (I have a Master in Information Systems). How would you approach the job search in this field? Do you think a referral would make sense as well? I would love to keep working from home but I don't mind going back to office and working as a contractor doesn't bother me too and I think the pay would be actually better but a permanent role is fine with me too! I have also started to apply (not many feedbacks unfortunately), do you think cover letters are necessary in tech companies like FAANG? Thank you all for your suggestions 🙂 TC 60k

afaik cover letters don't matter anymore. Referral is always good, a quicker way to get your resume to the HM. Ensure to list project management responsibilities as part of your business consultant roles. I lived in the UK before but like a decade ago, IT project management was definitely in demand in all industries. Good luck.

Definitely need referrals. For smaller companies I also customize my cover letter every time.

For big companies I agree, that could help for sure. Do you make cover letter even for big companies?
