I’ve built a small nest egg ($350k all in) over my 5 year career. I’ve also been anxious almost that entire time, scared of getting pipped, etc. Besides that, I just kinda hate the work. If I never see a failing integration test again it would be too soon. I’ve also built a small YT channel which recently passed 10k subscribers, I make content on “Smart Homesteading”, basically just a techy approach to homesteading. Things like a greenhouse which automatically opens/closes windows to aim for a humidity level, a sensor matrix to monitor animal pens, etc. But that has all been done on my 0.2 acre residential zone. 90% for my own mental health & life quality, and 10% to chase the dream, I’m buying a 50 acre plot in Tenesee and will be going full YT Homesteader influencer. Aiming to make a profitable, homestead (not a farm) by automating processes with home made contraptions, and filming the whole process. Going to try to scale channel. Wish me luck, ama if you want $270k -> $5k
What’s your channel? I would like to subscribe. Feel free to DM.
I looked up YT money per 10000 views and it was $50! Good luck. I also think you are dummy 😉 to quit at 10k subs
10k subs not views :) Fortunately the nature of that ‘career’ is having multiple streams of income, the ads normally end up being a smaller % of your income portfolio. I’ll still be broke for a while but I have enough to coast a few years, and if all else fails, I’ll still have a large stake of land to sell and rebuild from.
I will root for you, but can't say it's a good decision
Wish you all the luck. Share ur YT if that’s ok please.
What animals are you doing? What plants? Have you considered growing carnivorous plants? Why 50 acres? That seems like a lot of space if you aren't farming. What else are you going to do with all that land?
Good luck, might help to also post on TikTok & Instagram to reach a wider audience. Homesteading seems pretty bad ass, it might not be easy but worthwhile in the long run
Best of luck. Follow your dreams. Most people never do. So it’s nice to see others do that.
Sounds great. DM me your channel name and I'll watch it
Sounds fun. Good luck
Awesome, I have a big homestead in a very rural location and would love to do it in a smarter way. Will definitely check out your channel. Get out that brush hog... Searched "Smart Homesteading" on YT but didn't find it, can you DM the channel?
Good for you, hope the channel works out
