I have been offered a VP Position at Goldman Sachs and recruiter mentioned $70,000 bonus every year. I know they don't mention the bonus in offer letter. However reading the blind post it seems the bonuses are not fixed and might vary by large amount in upcoming years. How true is this for a VP role. Can anyone share their bonuses after first year completion. They’re basically paying you nothing. Why is the base so low for a tech VP position?
titles are inflated. almost everyone is a VP
Vp is GS is basically senior software engineer. So in my opinion the pay is not bad, it is close to 300k. And bonus in GS had always been more for me and never less than promised.. But from when did GS start giving rsu and what is your yoe OP?
In bank, director >> vp
Tech VP/SVP = Bank Managing Director Bank VP = Tech Staff Engineer / M1-2 manager Titles are not inflated, they are how they were 50 years before the first tech company arrived. Also, in Banks, VP reporting to VP, reporting to another VP is pretty common. They don’t have so many levels like tech cos.
Bank VP is a wide range. It can actually start from higher SDE2 amazon. Basically anyone with greater than 4-5 yoe can be a VP in banks.
Finally, some sensible words here @Slack. @Amazon- No. VP is 6+ YoE for external hires.
What is your yoe OP?
10 yrs of experience
70K seems unusually high for this level, especially considering you have RSUs. That would be a 45%+ bonus target, while most companies are in the 10-15% range for Sr SWEs.
Yeah that’s what I am wondering. Will it stay close to 50-70k of I will go to 20-30k range from second year onwards
Maybe they are lumping together a sign on with the annual bonus. I would definitely clarify.
Yoe ? Is this bonus prorated for this year ? I believe RSU is covering unvested equity you have in your current employer. Correct ?
10
Yeah that’s correct. It’s only applicable for next 3 years.
If you exercise options now and sell it much later, it is considered long term gains.. thus low tax. Otherwise, it is considered pretty much salary and taxed high
70k bonus you can only get if you join Jan of that year and wait until next year Or else it’s gonna be prorated .. in second yr .. they will lower your bonus number and give u rsu to lock u in for 3 more years and u will pretty much never see that 70k happening even when it’s good year like this one .. so RUNNN
Even for new york or just dallas? Do they differentiate between locations as well ?
I too got same offer with 70k bonus , can some one help if the bonus will be consistent ?
always found it kinda funny how almost everyone at GS is a VP lmao
I mean... VP is the first promo after associate, so they are basically nobodies (L6.5 for Amazon equivalent).
Analyst -> Associate -> VP.
