GS is joining well Fargo and Citi in layoffs, and eliminating around 400 positions #goldmansachs #layoff https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-09-30/goldman-to-resume-job-cuts-as-banks-abandon-covid-moratorium
banks just replaced the malls as the next hotspot for layoffs due to technlogy. accelerated by covid losses.
Studying my ass off, trying so hard to get into a top MBA program for Autumn 2021. Consulting and Tech still have many great opportunities.
After 2008 crisis, there were lot of banking layoffs. Followed by lot of hiring as well. Companies have to repurpose or realign themselves after some major shakeup and need new thinking I'm positive you'll have very exciting oppuretunities when you graduate. Stay strong and give your best
GTFO retail banking. That was my exact route, MBA then tech. Good luck with this new exciting journey!
Lol, what a wonderful day for my manager to schedule a catch-up meeting next week
Sweet summer children,I wish you good fortune in the interview wars to come.
2021: the year of the āleetcode extra hardā.
Leetcode makes me happy im not a software engineer. I call it the gauntlet. I play around on it from time to time to keep my coding skills sharp but as a data engineer/architect i dont need leetcode hard level coding skills
I got outstanding in review. Is there any chance of getting layoff ?
If your group ain't performing well jump to well performing group right away. Companies do flat layoffs, don't pick and choose. I think there's some details on which groups would see cuts
How do you know what you got in review? Curious as I do not , atleast yet.
Just got an offer, now Iām wondering if I could volunteer for the layoff and get that sweet severance...
How much is severance
Probably a month or two of pay; I havenāt been here that long.
these banks pay peanuts and treat employees like shit
Canāt argue with that. If you are tech avoid banks unless you are information security focused.
Troof
Are there any tell-tale signs I can keep an eye on? I just joined, and I am not sure if I have the energy to start leetcoding again after 2 months of intense coding, followed by a three month break. I feel I have already lost some skills.
Unless you start showing up drunk or saying unrepeatable things to your MD, new hires donāt usually get let go.
Thanks, that was reassuring. Logically speaking, new hires should be the easiest to let go, right? The older employees know the internal systems well and can perform more efficiently than a new hire who's still learning.
Is this only for people in business/finance? Will tech be impacted too?
mostly tech
What is the reason
Cost cuttings. Keep investors happy. Looks like planned cuts that were not executed due to covid
