Thinking of sending my kid to private school in 6th grade. Any recommendations of good schools in Sammamish, Bellevue and Redmond ? Does sending the Kid to private improve the chances of getting into a good college? Currently living in Issaquah and not liking the schools and curriculum
We were in private schools on the Eastside and Seattle for almost 20 years. I have firsthand knowledge of St. Louise, Bellevue Christian, Eastside Catholic and Holy Names - all good schools with top-notch academics, active parents and a welcoming culture. Several friends sent their children to Overlake, Bear Creek and Eton and they were equally happy with the education. What you get in a private school is curriculum heavily focused on the basics (reading, writing, mathematics, science), smaller classes, superior parent involvement, testing, and extremely responsive teachers. My girls started preparing for college entrance exams in the 7th grade and the preparation was reflected in high SAT/ACT scores. They were both far ahead of public school peers when they got to university. The investment in their education was worth every penny.
What are your thoughts on Bellevue Christian? I know of a family that left bc of bullying issues. They’re now in public and happy. I’ve been going back and forth on private bc I’m not happy with the direction public schools are going on feb east side.
My girls were happy at BCS. They attended the main campus (jr/sr high) as well as Mack and Three Points campuses. As you probably know,, junior high school age girls can be pretty mean and the counselor and principal at the junior high campus were diligent in fostering relationships and making sure all students felt included. In high school, BCS has a junior/senior banquet, instead of prom, to make sure all students participate instead of being left out due to the lack of a date. I am sorry your friend did not have a good experience at BCS. Did they work with the administration concerning their issues? My experience was very responsive administrators and teachers.
What’s the high school rank in Issaquah? I thought it’s very good
May be 7, till 5th grade the curriculum was not good
