I have always been a fan of apple products, as I believed they were doing a great job with privacy. It’s something that’s important to me, and honestly should be to anyone educated in tech and who cares about democracy and the right to free speech/privacy. With the recent news about Apple scanning images and adding government backdoors, I’m highly disappointed in the company. Sure, it might not be a problem now, but it only takes one bad person in power to turn this into a powerful persecution tool. Are there any good alternatives to apple products that offer actual privacy? Any mobile devices and/or cloud ecosystems? #privacy #apple #devices #cloud
Android with f-droid store and foss apps and without gapps. Also, self-host everything - email, photos, drive, etc - with encrypted drive
Blackberry
Have a NAS at home and host privacy sensitive data on it
It’s a single point of failure
Encrypted cloud backups from the NAS on a regular period
CalyxOS or GrapheneOS. Those who think Apple is some kind of bastion of privacy are turds.

Graphene, or calyx if you wanna use an android phone. You could buy a pine phone if you wanted a pure Linux phone. Host a nextcloud instance in aws or at home or just port forward to a Nas a home. Lots of options. An android without syncing your photos to g photos or drive is also good enough. Check out "mental outlaw" on YouTube, most recent videos are actually about this
