Hello, Somehow got an offer from a good fintech company, and I start in a little over 2 months. Writing this post to ask for resources regarding how to be a solid/good software developer. I sort of feel like a fake (got lucky with leetcode) and the only thing I know about swe is the basics of some programming languages (Java, C++, Python)…like I don’t even know how GitHub works lol. When I hear swe’s talk about submitting “PR’s” I’m just like wtf. There’s gonna be a training program but I want to be able to hit the ground running and pre-train, so any helpful resources would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
I was almost on the same situation. I read and practiced some of the tools/methods that we will use day to day i.e git, basic devops, agile, and code review best practices. I personally like text based content over tutorial videos. So, I signed up for educative.io . It has all the materials, I needed to start on day 1. Don’t worry about learning a specific framework or tool. You will have time to learn those during on-boarding. All the best !
Congrats, TC? All that stuff is easy once you get used to it. Just look it up on yt and practice what you can. Don't be afraid to ask for help at the job and have someone show you the steps, you'd be surprised how many ppl suck at git. Just make sure to take notes so you don't keep asking and they get fed up.
Hahaha. Nice one.
lol what do you mean?
