We all know that Google's hiring is excruciatingly slow and detailed. Here is my timeline. March 21: First call with recruiter April 25: Technical round, eliminating round. This interview was postponed twice. Went well. Question was easy to medium. Interviewer was Indian. Had time left to chit chat about what he does at Google. April 26: Got a call from the recruiter that the feedback was positive. I have to avoid repetition in my code and make it cleaner. She said that I will have 3 Tech + 1 G&L rounds. May 5: First tech round. Was horrible. I had an east Asian interviewer. Found it difficult to understand the accent. The question was HARD, was a probability related question, couldn't solve it. I was asked another question MEDIUM level. Solved it, but wrote the code in a very panicked state knowing I pooped over the first question. May 6: Second tech round. It was okay. Again had an east Asian interviewer. The question was HARD level. I was able to come up with a solution and write the code. The interviewer was pushing for a more optimal approach, but I was unable to reach there. May 9: Third Tech round. It went amazing. Had a long word problem type of problem. Felt that it was MEDIUM level. Once I typed the main solution, he started adding constraints, and I coded the changes. Later asked about multiple thread handling and it's solutions. Other questions about optimizations etc. In all the round went well and we had a lot of time to spare. So I involved him in another discussion about what he does. He went on and on. This guy was European I suppose. It was later in the day for me in India. A week later on May 16, my recruiter called me with the results of the 3 tech rounds. She said that the first two had MIXED feedback and the last one had POSITIVE feedback. She mentioned that I might have to do an extra tech round. May 25: G&L round. Basic stuff. I am an expert in smiling and telling stories in a very bold yet emotional way. May 30: Recruiter called in and said that G&L was very positive and scheduled the extra Tech round. June 1: Fourth tech round. Interviewer was Indian. The question was HARD level. Had solved a similar type of question earlier in the day, so was able to think of a solution quicker than usual. Interviewer had no algorithm related optimisation asks. Pointed out a few repetitive code which I corrected. Asked a followup question which I said could be solved by recursively calling the function with new input as the previous output. June 8: Recruiter mailed me asking for all my transcripts, address, competitive offers and other details. She later called telling me that the feedback of the 4th tech round was POSITIVE. She had sent my resume and feedback to different HMs for possible team match call to strengthen my packet. One rejected and one wanted to talk with me. She scheduled a call with the interested manager for the next day. It was my last working day at Walmart. I mentioned that I would be joining Meesho from the next Monday. June 9: Had a long chat with an engineering manager from Google Search Team. I liked the team and the work proposed. We had a discussion about the previous architecture and the new changes coming up. I mentioned a few points that he said were discussed intensely during team meetings. Seemed very interesting and I felt that he was positive about me too as he kept on mentioning what I would be doing and who I would be working with once I joined. June 14: My recruiter called me today saying that the engineering manager had a very positive feedback and he wanted me in his team as he sees a lot of potential. He talked with the director about possibly having me in his team, despite 2 mixed interview feedback. The director suggested for another tech round, which is scheduled for June 17. A few questions. 1. What is happening? When will the interviews end? It's Google not the FBI. 2. Are extra rounds common after successful team match? 3. What are the chances? I know it depends a lot on the next round I will have on June 17. 4. What are the possible reasons for HC to reject when the manager shows keen interest. I have 2 mixed and 2 positive feedbacks apart from a positive G&L feedback. 5. If offered, what level will be offered? L3 or L4? 6. Any reviews about Google India Search Team? I don't mind being downleveled to L3. YoE: 1 yr 10 months TC: 33LPA (28 + 5 ESOPs) Meesho SDE2 ย ย ย ย ย ย 20.3LPA(18.3 + remaining RSU vested over 4 years) Walmart. If you are able to smile and tell Stories, you will have great future at walmart. Don't go anywhere..๐
They won't increase salary.
On contrary, my first contact with recruiter is 3rd May and offer letter is 9th June. Now am wondering did I fall for fake google recruitment process ๐ฅน๐คฃ๐
My first recruiter contact was in feb mid and got offer in june . So it takes long long time
Heyy, Did you get any update ?
OP update?
Search is their biggest revenue generator, lots happening there. You are lucky to have not been rejected with that kind of feedback, decision is with you if you still want to pursue it. Itโs Google, everything else is acceptable :) All the best ๐๐ป
I don't understand. How is the decision with me if I still want to pursue it? Could you please explain your comment a little more in detail?
Sure, What I meant was that whether you decide to continue or not is a decision which is in your own hands. At the same time, applies to choices you may want to make, for example: discussing with recruiter, which I am not recommending :)
