Google tries to de-level people but in reality they ARE the same level. In fact an L6 at Amazon has way more responsibility, influence, and impact than an L6 at Google. And at AMZN$3000 - they are paid the same
That’s false, the levels are off by one at least until 7. After that they are more or less equivalent. An E5 going to amazon absolutely expects an L6 offer. Actual scope is very team dependent at both places and certainly there are people who are underperforming and over performing for their levels. They are only paid the same if you talk about people who were hired before the recent run up, and Amazon’s shitty bearing schedule says you have to make it to year three before that even matters for your comp and they will fuck you and give you no refresh grants because the stock went up so it won’t last.
