I screwed up. I've been with Salesforce for 6+ years. I have a G offer for 400K with a nice pay bump. I was sloppy in mentioning the exact job titles and dates on my resume. Will this create any background check issues? Into the story - I got promoted every 2 years at Salesforce. So, I had 3 different job tiles in the last 6 years at Salesforce. I'm currently a LMTS. I got sloppy in writing my resume and did not mention the first title(Member technical staff). I've put 4 years under Senior member of technical staff instead of 2 years under MTS, and 2 years under SMTS. Same is the case with my public LinkedIn profile. I'm going to be completely honest on Hireright about titles. This is causing me anxiety. Do companies check the exact dates of the titles? #google
No
Hiring manager, non Google. I would not care about this. Be 💯 with the background check company and I would be massively surprised if anything was mentioned.
BG checks only checks the most recent title for each company.
Do companies even confirm to this level of detail? I always thought background checks were more about possible criminal history anyway.
I wouldn't worry about it. I think the most recent title at Salesforce is what would count as part of background check. If there's any discrepancy, the bg check does not "fail", but simply leaves it to the employer to check with the candidate and resolve it Congrats OP!! I am an LMTS at Salesforce aiming for Google. Any tips? 🙂
Background check will surface your current title. Just say you've been an LMTS the whole time :)
I wouldn’t worry about it. I even don’t remember when I got promoted so just fill in SWE all the way through. Sometimes the internal levels won’t have different job titles in some companies, so not a big issue.
Hireright with Google checks against what you enter into their system - not against the resume you gave to Google. Put in the truthful dates / job titles in Hireright and you will be fine. Use the exact titles or it will flag a discrepancy, which can trigger a review by Google. Be honest here on out with Hireright and you’ll be golden.
you are thinking too much about the BS titles at Salesforce lol
Just be honest from here on out and hope for the best. Wish u good luck.
