Google Cloud Architect

As a new grad SWE joining GCP would it be helpful going through material for Google Cloud Architect cert? Or any other recs on what to look at?

Doesn’t hurt. But no. You are entering as cloud architect or just swe?

SWE

Just read it at your own time. You will be trained anyway. Never hurt to go through tutorials. GCP has free credits.

Nobody who's a swe on gcp is going to care. I'd focus your time on leetcode and side projects.

I already am joining GCP this summer. You still think leetcode helps for the job???

Google XVWX88 Jun 21, 2018

Are you an intern or full time employee? Leetcode is only good for interviews, nothing else. As a new grad swe you generally won't be making architecture decisions. Instead you'll primarily be writing code to some spec. If you have spare time go pickup a 20% project.

I would personally say that you should relax till you start your job. You are going to be stretched a lot for the next year. Reading/practicing spanner/gcp etc should be a lower priority (but can be done in free time).

Yeah thanks. I've been resting for a month and starting to get bored which is why I'm asking

Congrats on the offer! Maybe just read about what some of the offerings are and familiarize yourself, but you don't need the "cloud architect certification" stuff. I think that might be more for solutions engineers and the likes. Your first little while will be spent learning about the internal infrastructure, and specific things relevant to your team. There's a lot to learn once you get started.
