Hi all, Evaluating an offer from Google vs staying at my current role. Google TC for Customer / Sales engineers has 42% of OTE coming from bonus/commission. My obvious question is how often does the CE team hit their number? Having such a large portion of OTE coming from bonus/commission, one needs to consider the much higher tax rate for that category @ 45-50%. Would appreciate any insight into how often GCP teams are hitting their number / making quota. Thanks #google #gcp #customerengineer
Quotas seem quite fair here. If you make it then accelerators are really good and if you don’t, you should be 80-90% of goal since it’s a team goal.

What sort of bonus has a different tax rate? Normally bonus is just taxed as ordinary income.
You are right, it's the withholding that is typically higher than a standard paycheck. That would be rectified at year end during tax season. That said, I'm still curious to know how common it is for the sales teams to make their number. Reason I ask is because I've been burned before by organizations that never hit the number due to circumstances outside an individuals control such as unrealistic quotas.
