Google Customer Engineer
On-site at Google this afternoon. Interviewing for a GCP cust engineer role. Felt really good about the on-site. Recruiter emailed to follow up two hours later and asked me to set up a call with her tomorrow. Any guesses on next steps? Or if it’ll be good news or bad? If I’m moving forward, any idea on TC for these roles? I’ve seen SE salaries but nothing for CEs. Would appreciate anything you can share!
SE's are now called CE's at Google. You should consider this very positive. The only reason recruiter would want to talk to you so soon is if they liked you and want to offer. Good luck and let me know how things go.

congrats! Was there any coding or design questions?
Technical interview was relatively straightforward. Some super basic foundational questions. All up, more architecture focused than code. Most intense part was the on-site.

CEs don't do coding interviews but your be shocked at how many candidates Gail even the basics. I think our hit rate for on-sites is able 1:6. Terrible candidates out there. Btw, I'm hiring.

What is the expected comp for L5 CE?
Talked to the recruiter today. Good feedback overall from the onsite. They want me to come back and re-do my presentations and demo to fill in a few more details which is frustrating but fair feedback. So, going back to work!

Update: While working to schedule follow up, the recruiter called to say the position had been filled. So, now I’m in a little bit of a wait and see. Still plan to go back and do the follow up in case other roles open up but things slowed considerably since then. Current status: waiting on confirmation of my second on-site. but without a specific role in mind. Bit of an emotional rollercoaster for sure but, such is life
The presentation required way too much time and prep and I already had an offer from another company so ended up accepting the other offer instead
