Google European offices ranking?
I’m going to interview with Google Europe. I’m leaving the US as my H-1B application didn’t get picked. I was asked by the recruiter to rank my preferences among Warsaw, Munich and Zurich. I was told Warsaw has the most openings right now and there are lots of plans to grow there, while Zurich has the least and it could take a while to find a team match there. My interest is in infra so Warsaw or Zurich would be my choices (Munich has Chrome/Android teams only from what I understand) but I’m not sure about ranking Warsaw first even though it has a lot of infra teams. Is it very difficult for someone who doesn’t speak Polish there to have a good life there? The pay scales are also widely different from what I understand - so should I choose Zurich over Warsaw to maximize TC? #europe #google

Off topic question, sorry - Do you know if Google would hire engineers for Zurich directly from India? I'm not sure of the work/culture here in their India offices. Looking to apply in EU.
Don’t think you can have the EU WLB in Switzerland. That’s why they pay people the Swiss salary
If your skin isn’t white, avoid Poland. Although, if you can stomach it, Warsaw will be the easiest for you since Zurich’s Leetcode regurgitation bar is quite high and Warsaw has many openings

Google expanding Warsaw which is canibalizing Zurich. Ranking would depend on what you are optimizing for: -career: LDN > WAW > ZRH -QOL: ZRH > WAW > LDN -net disposable income: ZRH > LDN > WAW
Do you live in Warsaw now, you sound like a Polish person as they tend to whine a lot;) How many of those places you have lived in? I used to live in LDN, WAW and ZRH and I see no sense in what you have written here.
Not from Google but isn't Dublin an option? Since you mentioned infra, I guess SRE teams are there.
Dublin didn’t seem like an option. I was specifically interested in SWE roles with the infra focus, so I guess that’s why it wasn’t mentioned.
