Google Field Sales Rep Offer

Passed all interviews for a Google Cloud Field Sales Rep role in the Bay area. Recruiter is now asking me for my comp 'expectations' before passing on my profile to hiring/comp committee. When I pushed the recruiter for an estimate of what they would start at, this is what I got. Is this too low for the Bay Area? Level 5 $135k = Base $108k = Incentive at full attainment (80% of base) $40k = Equity/year ($160k stock award for 4 years) Total Target Comp = $283k Have 7 years experience, coming from Azure background. My expectation for total target comp would be at least $350k for a Bay Area role.

The base does seem low especially for the Bay Area.

That's what I thought, should not be less than $165k for the Bay

That is too low for Bay area. Also depends on account level, growth, enterprise or global. What was their final offer?

Whats your TC at microsoft?

Microsoft LizardFace OP Aug 27, 2018

At target payout it's $250k, and that's in the South

Bro teach me to be like you. I applied for the field sales role at Google got to round one then no call after that.

Microsoft Fpqq57 Aug 27, 2018

Are you considering switching internally? $250k current TC seems low unless you're a CSA or TSP. Maybe go after an internal field role in SF?

I've had a lot of problems growing career internally within Microsoft. Constant manager changes (I'm on my 7th one in 3 years) and switching districts due to a re-org in the last 2-3 years means I have to re-prove myself on every team when I should be leveling up. I still get great feedback on performance reviews and connects, but some of our internal HR polices favor career growth by switching jobs instead of staying with the company

Google doesn’t have their shit together. I have been a top performer for 8 years.. exceeded my quota every year, made presidents club trips, made it to final round and the hiring manager wanted to hire me but the hiring committee didn’t like my response and graded me poorly On the rubric. They decided not to hire me but want me to re-Interview in 5 months. If google wants to hire the best their rubric style interview may not suffice especially when asking odd questions that do not relate to anything sales related. I was told I was over prepared and sounded rehearsed which the committee didn’t like.

Dang dude, sorry to hear it didn't work out. I did eventually get a good offer from Google but it took me another 7 months after I made this original post.

What was the question?
