How often do profiles get rejected at offer review stage? I have a low-modest gpa, close to 6 years experience (3 at Oracle, 3 at Microsoft) and my HC seemed to have gone well inferring from the facts that HC packet got a green light the same day it was submitted. I wasn't team matched or asked for references/transcripts so far. Just my resume, compensation and competing offers. I've seen some Reddit posts where people got rejected for having low gpa. Does Google ask about GPAs for someone with ~6 yoe? Thanks guys. Google takes forever and it's really unnerving!
How many times did you try before making it? Was this your first attempt ?
First on-site, yes. I previously failed the phone screen three years ago
GPA is irrelevant after you have experience. If a company asks about GPA after you have 3+ yoe then you don't want to work for them. That means that they are focused on the wrong things. That question is a huge red flag for me.
Google didn't ask me for GPA, to be clear. I've read that as one of the reasons candidates with lesser experience got rejected and I wanted to know if it's a point of focus for more experienced hires as well
I think the transcript is just to verify your education history if there actually taking that into account after 6 years of experience then Google is fucked. I think that post on cscareer was for an internship anyways I wouldn't worry about it all anyways isnt google the company that touts they'll hire you without a degree if you pass whatever arbitrary interview gauntlet they've constructed.
Pretty sure people not getting offers due to low GPA are mostly new grads. Didn't even realize they asked for GPA for exp hire. Can you talk about your onsite exp?
Sure. 5 rounds with 4 algos and 1 design. Algo questions were on graphs, backtracking, trees, dp on strings. The level of the questions were two questions at Leetcode medium level, two at Leetcode hard level. I think I did pretty good on 3 algo rounds. Was able to come up with optimal solutions and code them fully, answered follow up questions and still had about 5 mins left in each of the rounds. Interviewers seemed happy. My fourth algo round was modest. I got the optimal solution and coded it, had two edge cases that I missed which I caught and rectified. Finished just on time. Design was okay too. Had an engaging discussion. I'd say it was a good discussion. It could've definitely gone better but I was okay with the way it went.
Sorry I am replying on the thread, dont have dms left. How did you prepare? Just lots of LC?
Pretty sure GPA has no role in anything They might have asked for degree verification which is also moot. Google doesn't bother about your degree or GPA, just that you are not lying about it
What level?
I’m sure GPA is the least thing to worry about with your 6+ experience, just the interview performance matters. If you don’t mind asking, what’s your GPA?
It's around 3
OP - can you share questions?
I don't know. They didn't ask me. I'm just curious
