Got the go-ahead on a Google Infrastructure Cloud Consultant at the L5 level (so senior?). This will be in the Professional Services org at Google Cloud. I have past experience as a Senior TAM at AWS, and currently L64 (feels like I got hard down-levelled) at Microsoft Azure. Want to target roughly $290k in TC from Google: Base = $165k + Cash bonus @ 15% = 25k + Hiring Bonus = 20k + 240k stock, 33% vested 1st yr = 80k Current TC: $245k YOE: 7yrs Am I being unreasonable? Should mention, I will be on a Green Card soon and won’t need employer H1B sponsorship once I join Google. Please share your opinion. And if you think I should ask for different numbers, please drop those numbers. Thank you! #tech Edit: Location either Sunnyvale, CA or Boulder, CO
Oh also I should mention, I based these numbers on: H1B salary data (for base pay) Blind and levels.fyi for total comp estimates. Somewhat conservatively split the difference between a Level 4 and Level 5 SDE at Google.
How was your interview feedback? Good or great overall?
I would say: Great for the core role related knowledge, great for “Googleyness”, and just good for the general cognitive ability. But it’s hard to be certain absolutely right? Or do recruiters share more specifics when asked?
Congrats on the offer! I am interviewing for a TAM role currently and will see how that goes.
Please help me come up with better numbers folks! I did do leg work and research and I’m not being lazy :)
If ur at Microsoft already, don’t u already have similar compensation figures? Did u quote these numbers yet? What did u find out
Update: Ended up with ~$300k. Base $160k, sign on bonus $30k, and the rest in stock and 15% target bonus. Don’t have other competing offers so couldn’t negotiate more. I am comfortable with these numbers for at least 2 years, and will look out for refreshers or just move on. It’s in a medium cost of living area, not Bay Area.
That’s still low.Why can’t you try to get competing offers(given that google offers hold true for one year)
What’s your current role at MS?
Hey OP. Is this role similar to cloud infrastructure engineer?
Low balled. Get competitive offers
Thank you! They’ve currently put the ball in my court to give numbers. I was thinking of giving those numbers but it looks like I should ask for more. What would you suggest? Thanks again!
