I recently got passed Google’s phone interview for a TPM role. My feedback was good but not the strongest (tech knowledge was great but PM skills weren’t translated well) How hard will this hurt me in finding a potential team to interview with? P.S. Tbf I wasn’t fully prepared/aware for what the phone portion entailed
I was pretty sure I failed my tech screen (not in a humble/fake self-deprecating way) and I was actually really surprised when I got selected for onsite. And then I completely rocked my on-site interviewers. The next day recruiter called and said the feedback is extremely strong and she had no doubt I am going to make it to offer stage (although she said she wasn’t supposed to say that). I was technically supposed to be L3 (recent grad-school + 4 months of yoe) but I got L4. All the best!! You can do it.
That’s awesome, congrats!! How many days or weeks after your initial screen did you hear about getting selected for on-sites?
3 weeks (but it was a bad recruiter who ghosted me later) and then I got a new recruiter after a couple months of no contact (after learning I cleared onsite).
