Can anyone working in Google Japan share the salary of new grad? I checked on blind but one message said ~7M while on some other websites I got around ~10M so its kind of vague. How is the breakdown like? TC : 0 (newgrad) #google #japan #swe #newgrad #newgradsalary #googlecompensation
Hi, it can be rather limited compared to the Bay Area, but if you still need some assistance with this question I'll reach out to my Univeristy network. Are you looking to be an entry level SE?
Thank you so much! Yes, I am looking at the new grad role software engineer (right after college) It's a bit hard to find on net since I guess tokyo office is small. btw OP here, I didn't know changing username would not show the OP on top right of messages. I am new to blind so was just checking out the features.
Cool. I know we publish a slaries book in Japan (I think by industry & job -- looking towards the upper end for a 開発者 salary might also give a hint.) Do you prefer I message you further or just comment in this thread?
7-8M ¥ base + 1-2M ¥ bonus/RSU was what I’ve heard. Try checking vorkers.com if you read kanji - i cba to go through their forms for free access. I heard they are only looking for fairly senior people currently, though? Or is it new grads and very senior roles?
Thank you. I don't know much about who are they looking for but they are hiring new grads also currently as far as I know. Thanks for the link. I can't read kanji but will try using google translator.
Forgot about vorkers, that's a good resource!

OP, did you get an offer from Google Tokyo?
No I don't have an offer. Was just curious since I want to go to Japan and found that google and indeed are the best paying companies there (for swe)
Actually, I have mercari pays well too. It was around 8+ Mil for new grad in Tokyo

You have to bear in mind that new grad programs here in Japan often run on a different cadence to the west. Graduation here is in the spring and new grads start in April, so they might follow that. As far as I know for Google they are only hiring experienced hires right now. It's a pretty big office presence here and super nice, they just moved to some amazing office in shibuya which is incredible. Amazon and us also have big offices here. We aren't hiring right now but when we do new grads, it's on a Japanese schedule.
Pretty sure Google doesn’t follow the “April only” start date for new grads. Guy I know started in September few years back. But you’re right about hiring only senior roles, I was gunning for a senior ML engineer role and they told me I’m on hold despite good phone screen feedback.
So new grad hiring for indeed Japan is finished? Damm :( that's one less option now and there were only two. Do you know of any good pay companies in Japan that I should try?
Get into Google anywhere else and transferring after one year is the better way to go.
Why? If you transfer, aren't stocks also changed accordingly?
Not the ones already granted. Your base might change tho
Base should be 8-9M at least for new grad

I'm a bit surprised too. Didn't know people were looking for this kind of information on Blind. "Could've sworn everyone on this app is in the Bay Area."
Actually, it's South Korean app, which successful settled Bay area.
