Google L3 - What's a good comp to ask for?

My recruiter has asked me what my compensation expectations are for a L3 SWE position for the Seattle/Kirkland area. I was told that this would be a more senior L3 given the YOE. I am unsure what numbers to give. Current deets (at MSFT): Base: 110,000 Bonus: 25,000 Stock: 70,000 YOE: 3 #google

That offer seems low to me

Google io21 Jun 14, 2021

I’m confused, is that op’s current comp at MS or his offer from Google

I have asked directly 260k for Seattle, negogiated for 250k. But I was L5 @ Amazon then, downlevelled to L3 @ G. How many years of experience?

Why accept downloading from sde2 to entry level?

Facebook PKSw14 Jun 14, 2021

You managed to negotiate to 250k in Seattle for L3?

what is a "more senior L3"? Sounds like they're just trying to make you not feel bad taking an entry level role.

Pretty standard google MO to down level people, say it’s easy to get promoted quickly cause you’re a “senior L-1”, and give an outsized initial RSU grant that will cause a shitty cliff in 4 years

Is that your current comp at MSFT or the numbers that G gave? There’s no such thing as “senior L3”. That’s recruiter BS.

Microsoft akki.rotti OP Jun 16, 2021

Yes, that's my current comp at MSFT. What I was told was that it typically takes 3-4 years to get promoted to the next level but for me since the interviews were borderline, I could get promoted within a year and so "senior L3".
