I got downleveled in the interview from L5 to L4. TC 290k, which seems high for L4. Anyone have an idea how long it takes to get to L5? I also heard it may take even longer now because L4 is terminal but managers also have more discretion now up to L5?
Same here, 13 yoe, 250K. I had one system design and other are algorithms. I think my recruiter did a safe bet and had me for l4. I guess to hit those stupid diversity numbers. Hard to be promoted after a year, I'll try a promotion next cycle, a manager is really supportive.
13 years and L4 is really tough to swallow.. what was your previous job?
Oh interesting. Is your manager saying it’ll take two years?
If you like the TC then why do you care about downlevel? If anything it'll make it easier to get promoted and snap another 20-30% raise, whereas L5->L6 is very hard.
Lol easy to get promoted to fucking L5 which you can join at instead! God the kool aid some people drink!
Easier than getting promoted to L6, d'oh
DONT TAKE IT. Expect a minimum of 3 years!
Hmm anyone know L4 refresh? Hard to find that info on blind. I see lots of L5 refresh data points.
Interested as well
120k / 4 over 4 years. Refresh is given in Jan after 12 to 24 months based on when you joined. e.g. if you join in Jan 2023, you will get refresh in Jan 25. Even if you join in Dec 2023, you will get refresh in Jan 25.
MTV? YOE?? Did you start your interview as L5 or just general? Any system design questions?
7 YOE. I interviewed as L5 but got downleveled after interview.
Any system design questions? Or just 5 rounds or coding questions?
