I got an offer from Google for SWE L4 in USA. I'm currently on my last year of opt, around 7 months remaining. Whenever I asked about visa, the recruiter always mentioned they should be fine to onboard me Should I let me manager / G know that I'll have to figure out other location options after I join, or is it better to wait it out, first join and then let them know when the time comes TC : 285k Yoe : 4
Do you have H1B or TN for after it expires? I think its worth mentioning to recruiter.
I do not have a H1B or TN visa
Is 285K the L4 TC? What’s the breakdown like?
In worst case they will send you to canada and bring back to US in one year, just chill OP
Start your green card on day 1. Have all the documents ready before they ask.
Does starting green card help ? Regardless it would take a long time for that process right ?
Yeah I think it should help. Once you have your i-485 approved, you can wait on your ead card. I got mine in 10 months after starting my job
Yeah I’d say probably wait it out. In a somewhat similar situation - let me know if you ask before joining or decide to wait
I did mention to the recruiter about when my EAD ends, the recruiter reached out to the immigration and they just said I should be good to onboard So I think its better to just mention once you reach the offer stage
I’m sure the recruiters know what they are getting into. Have an open communication with your manager after you start.
