Google L4: 158k base + 15% bonus/ 30k signon/ 250k equity for 4 years First year 300k, then less than 250k ( due to the front heavy vest schedule) Pros: It’s Google...? Cons: GCP team, working on one of the fundamental service in cloud, wlb might not very good . lots of strong L4 and L5 in the team, promo path to L5 might be very crowded. Dropbox IC3: 209k base + 15% bonus/ 15k signon/ 420K equity for 4 years First year 350k, then 330K Pros: Great pay, senior lvl, good team working on core products, good Wlb and culture. Cons: Dropbox goes remote, I don‘t wanna wfh permanently!! Dropbox stock is not doing well. Cur TC: 250k yoe: 4 #offer #google #dropbox
Congratulations OP! Would you mind if I dm you for aome prep strategies for dropbox ?
You can easily find all questions online😂
Thanks for pointing out
I chose Dropbox over google and do not regret it. I have not worked at google and know little about it, but at Dropbox I have been entrusted with big important things. At google I expect they entrust you with smaller parts of important things.
Does Dropbox not even care that all their questions and answers are online? https://github.com/insideofdrop/Dropbox-Interview-Prep
don’t recommend GCP, esp at lower level
Why? Wlb? Oncall load? Or promotion is slow?
political
Hmm. So Dbx has level deflation. But that said, I think it really comes down to what you want to work on. Normally I'd say Google looks better on your resume, but Dbx still looks good (for now) and I know a fairly junior SWE who just opted for Msft over GCP because some GCP folks told him things weren't great culturally. Remote isn't for everyone. Personally, I'm stoked to work from other countries as I want and experience them on my own time instead of cramming them into pto. Google going back to offices strikes me as.... Obtuse.
How long can you stay abroad? Thought there's tax implications
There are tax implications. I'm not sure exactly what the time limit is but I think one needs to be working out of the area they are employed in for 6+ months out of the year. I'd most likely just go abroad for two months at a time.
