Does google ask more problem solving algorithm questions ( example merge intervals or maze) or object oriented design questions ( example design network link interface or logging system or rate limiter or so) for L5? I am trying to collect input mainly for L5 rounds. And yes, there will be one system design round as well. I know this varies from person to person. However I would like to know the likely hood So please vote, if you have seen such questions in google interviews either phone or onsite loops Please do share your experience for OOD questions. I'd go so far as to say expect 0 OOD questions.
How about for l4 or l3?
Even more algorithms
Seems like a close draw between Algorithms and popcorn :p
How come system design is not an option? Does Google stop asking those? 🤔
OOD generally isn't a thing unless it's some weird startup. Leetcode and systems design are what you care about.
I agree but some cases they are doing OOD , so trying to understand for whom it is Targeted, like is it based on yoe or for some levels like L5 ans above
It’s all about LeetCode
Even for L5 ?
I have a design follow-up for my algo question and from L5s I expect a decent OO solution.
That makes sense.
How does someone memorizing LeetCode solutions translate to a successful employee?
You can go and on with this and finally realize if you have to do it anyway
For one Google avoids asking LC questions so only those who don't memorize but understand patterns and can pass the interview Thin is good enough to reach L4 and eventually with experience L5
The latter category isn’t really OOD IMO, it’s just a leetcode style in a different skin. No one asks OOD problems (in the sense of how clean and performant is your codr) because it is extremely language and question framing sensitive. This would be things like “implement a string”, “implement open address hashing”, “implement a double ended queue”
I did this recently, 1 behavioral, 1 design, 3 leetcode
For L5 ?
Yes L5 this month
