Have offers from all three for Android sde. Amazon will get back on feedback, likely positive. Location Seattle for all three. Google - 180/600/some bonus Facebook - 190/500/50k 10yoe I want to join fb and I have asked for 200/600/100k based on Google offer. Recruiter is asking to show Google offer, while Google offer is verbal (recruiter gave me approx numbers over call) and joining bonus is not revealed to me. Google recruiter is saying that they will share written offer only when I am willing to accept. How can I convince fb recruiter? Are they even supposed to ask for written proof of competing offer, specially when I don't have written proof?
Wait for Amazon. They always fire written offers first
Congrats! Tell FB recruiter that G gave you a verbal offer and they wont give you written unless you’re going to accept. My FB recruiter never asked me for any written competing offers and trusted what i said they were.
What do you mean? L6 at Amazon = L5 at G
Median YoE for Amazon L6 is around 9-10. Possible the team or org you were interviewing with didn't have the reqs or budget. It's even more likely that they downleveled you, since L6 is badly overscoped in many orgs (they'll expect a junior PE for 300k/year or less).
200 base at E5 sounds like too high
Not in BA. in SEA, yes.
What is the max for E5 base?
What is the vesting schedule for the RSU's at Google and Facebook? Amazon is 5% yr 1, 15% yr 2, 20% every 6 months thereafter.
I wouldn't go anywhere near Amazon for mobile/IoT/devices/Android or anything in that domain. The internal tooling is horrible for it, and odds are you're either going to be in Lab126 (which seems to have a TPM:SDE ratio of 2:1) or are going to be surrounded by mediocre SDEs who self-identify with the term "Java developer" and don't understand or appreciate the complexity of your work...good luck getting TT ratings (PE promo isn't going to be on the table anytime soon, so I wouldn't worry about that), which means your TC is going to be shit after a couple years. FB is making a huge push into that space so they're the most likely to actually value you. Google can go either way; depends on team match (hopefully you're being offered a generalist role and NOT "mobile SWE Android" or whatever they call it). Note: I'm no longer at Amazon.
Thanks for the insights.
I second this. While the Android community at Amazon is decent, one would be wasting time fighting with tooling. Non mobile engineers don't understand mobile and don't value your work. Even the PE in my org seemed to think mobile development is 'easy' until recently. Stay away! P.S: Leaving Amazon soon
If you don't mind, what was your final offer?
Op, could you share what fb offered subsequently
I had higher comp offer from FB, but decided to join Google. L5 at Google is considered higher than FB E5
Fb didn’t ask to see my other offers. Probably cuz my tc is under 300k
